Mr. Hicham El Habti, President of Mohammed VI Polytechnic University (UM6P) and Chairman of the Board of Atlas Cloud Services, along with Mr. Hicham Iraqi Houssaini, General Director of SAP Francophone Africa, announced their joint commitment to strengthen their collaboration in the fields of innovation and digital sovereignty. This initiative aims to support the digital transformation of Morocco and Africa by providing Moroccan companies across more than 25 sectors with access to SAP’s cloud solutions.
Morocco has taken a decisive step in its digital transformation journey with the localization of RISE with SAP solutions, a global leader in enterprise application software, within national cloud services. This marks a major turning point for the country’s data sovereignty.
SAP AND ATLAS CLOUD SERVICES: DRIVERS OF DIGITAL TRANSFORMATION IN MOROCCO AND AFRICA
The integration of SAP’s ERP cloud offering into Atlas Cloud Services’ infrastructure enhances the national strategy for innovation and cloud adoption. Atlas Cloud Services has a world-class Data Center, certified Tier III and Tier IV by the Uptime Institute, which provides services based on the latest technologies. Thanks to this collaboration, Moroccan companies can now leverage RISE with SAP solutions while keeping their data within the country, in line with the Moroccan government’s commitment to effective digital transformation. SAP’s ERP Cloud offering will support innovation in both the public and private sectors, as Moroccan and African entities take advantage of the benefits of cloud computing and emerging technologies like artificial intelligence and machine learning.
THE SAP PRIVATE CLOUD: STRENGTHENING MOROCCO’S DIGITAL SOVEREIGNTY
With the establishment of the first SAP private cloud in Morocco, the company demonstrates its commitment to investing in a dynamic and digitizing African market. Réda Loudiyi, General Director of Atlas Cloud Services, emphasizes that “Atlas Cloud Services’ commitment to this large-scale project enables the mobilization of one of Africa’s largest Data Centers to support the Kingdom’s digital sovereignty. Moroccan companies will benefit from local cloud solutions, compliant with national legislation and expertise.”
For his part, Hicham Iraqi Houssaini, General Director of SAP Francophone Africa, stated that “RISE with SAP enables pioneering companies in Morocco and Francophone Africa to enhance their efficiency and reduce operating costs while adopting the most modern technologies associated with cloud computing.”
Mehdi Aroussi, Director of SAP’s ERP Cloud offering for Francophone Africa, adds that “Morocco faces several challenges in adopting the cloud, particularly regarding data sovereignty. With SAP’s private cloud, the country can exert greater control over digital governance and define data management policies tailored to its needs, while fostering the emergence of a local cloud industry and creating jobs in the information technology sector.”
Finally, Mr. Hicham El Habti, President of UM6P, highlighted that “the digital infrastructure deployed by UM6P via Atlas Cloud Services enables Moroccan public and private institutions to benefit from cutting-edge solutions while ensuring digital sovereignty. In today’s information era, managing sovereign data is crucial for the performance and resilience of Moroccan and African economic operators, particularly concerning the storage, protection, and processing of data.”
